Silk was born Fredericton in New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, an educator and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna is able to recall certain memories she had as a child, including seeing her mother work during play rehearsals. Silk appeared as a little girl in numerous commercials. The year 1997 was the time she earned a bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University. Her early theater experience has included at least two productions in collaboration with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk made the move to Toronto for further development of her acting career in the month of November 1999. She later, in the following decade relocated in the following decade to Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman became her husband in 2007, when they met during an Actors' Workshop in Los Angeles. Following their engagement in 2008, the couple got married in the year 2009. The couple renewed their vows on April 10, 2011, in Fredericton at a Jewish ceremony following her conversion to an observant Jew.
